Volcanoes

 Week 5 Volcanoes

Ecuador is commonly known to have volcanoes in a total of 47 volcanoes both active and extinct. This might come off as scary or frightening for some people. For tourists, this is the complete opposite. many people visit this country every year to experience the scientific beauties that this place has to offer. Here are the most popular volcanoes that this country has:

Volcano Chimborazo

This volcano is the highest in Ecuador. Reaching 20,458 feet and a 3-4 hour drive into this landscape. Mountain climbers take this mountain as a challenge making it very difficult to climb not only because of the terrain but the time it takes to climb.

Volcano Cotopaxi

This is the 2nd highest volcano in Ecuador. reaching 19,347 feet. What makes this volcano different from Chimborazo is the snow cap which lies on top of the volcano. this is the most climbed volcano because it will only take about 30 minutes to climb.

Volcano warning system

"The National Volcano Warning System (NVEWS) is a national-scale plan to ensure that volcanoes are monitored at levels commensurate to their threats. The plan was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Volcano Hazards Program (VHP) and its affiliated partners in state and academic institutions."(Volcano Hazards) This system constantly monitors volcanoes which can determine whether the volcano is going to erupt. This protects any climbers and tourists that visit these volcanoes
