Week 2 Ecuador: Tectonic Plates

Tectonic Plates are how landforms are created which result in movements. Some tectonic plates include continental crust or oceanic crust, Ecuador is located on the Northwestern part of the South-American plate, east of the boundary between the Nazca plate and South-American plate represented by the Colombia-Ecuador trench. For Ecuador's environment, earthquakes are the main tectonic problem for this country. There are 3 types of Earquicks in Ecuador, subduction earthquakes, shallow upper-plate earthquakes, and, marginally, volcano-related earthquakes.

The natural landscape makes up for a significant amount of natural disasters. How were Ecuador's regions formed? Looking back at how Ecuador's Regions were formed many years ago the Nazca Plate and the South American Plate crashed together. The South American Plate formed on top of the Naca PLate creating what's called the Subduction process.

Therefore Mountain ranges start to get created as long as volcanoes and earthquakes. Ecuador has a diverse selection of Nature including forests, rivers, and hot springs. If you think about it Ecuador's tectonic plates may cause danger for many species living there.
